On 5 October 2026, the auditorium at GIIS KL buzzed with energy and warm appreciation as students and staff gathered for a special morning assembly celebrating World Teachers’ Day. The event served as a vibrant platform for the entire school community to recognise the dedication, passion, and transformative contributions of educators.
The morning was led by Year 9 assembly emcees Angela and Zubair, who guided the audience through an engaging and memorable program. A comprehensive presentation highlighted the origins of World Teachers’ Day, establishing its connection to UNESCO and emphasizing the pivotal role teachers play in shaping the future and guiding young minds.
The presentation thoughtfully aligned the daily efforts of educators with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It explicitly connected their contributions to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), reinforcing how inclusive, high-quality instruction helps reduce social gaps and prepare students for meaningful futures.
A major highlight of the morning was a surprise group performance planned and executed by Year 9 students to honour their educators. This special tribute brought an element of delight and heartfelt gratitude to the assembly, drawing enthusiastic applause from across the auditorium.
The event also reflected several core pillars of the GIIS 9 Gems holistic framework. Through creative performance, public speaking, and collaborative teamwork, students demonstrated Academic Excellence, Visual and Performing Arts, Innovation and Creativity, and Skill Development. At the same time, the overarching themes of respect, empathy, and global citizenship embodied Personality Development, Universal Values and Ethics, and Community and Care.
The World Teachers’ Day 2026 celebration concluded on an inspiring note, leaving educators feeling deeply valued and strengthening the sense of unity and shared gratitude throughout GIIS Kuala Lumpur.
