On the 25th of May 2024, the GIIS KL Field buzzed with excitement and anticipation as it hosted the GIIS KL Under-15 Football Challenge Trophy. This event brought together eight dynamic school teams, each eager to compete, learn, and foster a spirit of camaraderie.

The GIIS KL Under-15 Football Challenge Trophy marked the inaugural football competition held on the school’s ground. Eight enthusiastic teams from various prestigious institutions gathered for this thrilling event: Regent International School, GOTS International School, Sri Bestari International School, Aspiration International School, SMK Bandar Tasik Selatan, CIMBYFA Red Star, Eaton International School, and GIIS KL.

This football challenge aimed to promote the development of the sport within the GIIS KL school team and provide an excellent platform for participants to gain exposure to new challenges and game strategies. Moreover, it was a fantastic opportunity to restore and strengthen the friendly relations among all participating schools, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): good health and well-being (SDG 3) and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17) and the 9GEMS holistic development framework: sports excellence (Gem 2) and skill development (Gem 9).

GIIS KL displayed exceptional skill and determination throughout the competition. They emerged victorious after defeating CIMBYFA Red Star 3-1 in a thrilling semi-final match. Their winning streak continued in the finals, where they secured the championship title with a close 4-3 win against GOTS International School.

The GIIS KL Under-15 Football Challenge Trophy 2024 was a celebration of youth, sportsmanship, and the enduring spirit of teamwork. It provided invaluable experience and exposure to all participants and laid the foundation for future sporting events at GIIS KL.
