SDG Club students and teachers of Global Indian International School, Kuala Lumpur made a heart-warming visit to Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari, an orphanage on 19 April 2023. The purpose of the visit was to create a memorable moment with the children and sensitize students to the lives of underprivileged children. The students participated in various activities such as playing games, reciting rhymes, and coloring with the children. They also distributed goody bags to each one of them.
The visit aimed to instill a sense of empathy and responsibility towards society in GIIS students and to promote the importance of social welfare activities. The SDG Club students and teachers believe that small contributions can make a big difference in the lives of underprivileged children.
This noble initiative by the SDG Club of GIIS KL not only helps to brighten the day for these kids but also promotes a culture of giving and community involvement among the students. The event was a success, and it has left a lasting impact on the hearts of the students and children alike. The students have learned that beyond their studies and career aspirations, they have a larger responsibility towards society and its well-being. The visit to Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari has given them an opportunity to fulfill this responsibility.
This event is in line with Gem 8 (Community and Care) of the GIIS 9 Gems Holistic Education Framework. Through a comprehensive programme, we give our students a chance to be out and about in the community and have social interactions which will help them bond with society at large. Charity drives, community event participation, green initiatives and conservation of resources are some of the methods we encourage among students to develop their emotional and spiritual well-being and student care.
