GIIS KL- Session with an Alumnus

Kuala Lumpur, 6 February 2021: With the start of new year, Global Indian International School-Kuala Lumpur decided to organize an advisory session with an alumnus on  6th of February 2021, regarding higher studies. This session was organized to brief the students of Grade 12 about life beyond school. Mr. Austin Julius was invited to take part in this session.

This session took place on a virtual format platform and started at around 12:00 PM, MYT. Anvit Sinha, the school captain gave an introductory speech welcoming Mr. Austin Julius. The alumni ambassador, Shayan Rizvi and the student ambassador Dev Joshi, of GIIS-KL took part in this session as well. Mr. Austin graduated from GIIS in 2017 (Class 12) and obtained a BBA degree from the Christ university in Bangalore. He is currently doing his MBA in IIM.

The entire batch of grade 12 participated in this session along with a few teachers. A few other Alumni, Shreyash, Nitya, Shreya and Sid who studied with Austin (Grade 10  2015 batch) joined in this session as well. The alumni and the teachers enjoyed talking, reminiscing about a few funny incidents that had happened in the campus. After that Austin spoke about his experiences in college and how these were different from school. The other alumni also shared their personal experiences in college. Shreya also told everyone that she does social service during her leisure time as it was her hobby to do so. The entire session was extremely engaging, the students never had a moment of silence. It lasted for about 2 hours. Not only Austin but the other alumni also helped in answering the questions of the students. The students loved the session, the teachers too were happy to have a casual conversation about their old students and seeing them being so successful made them feel ecstatic. Through this session all the students gained valuable information not only in one field but in multiple other fields.

It was really nice to meet our old students. I am proud of their achievements”, said Mrs. Anuradha. Another teacher Mrs. Kalyani also said , “The session was informative for the students. It’s amazing to see our old students after many years.” Anvit Sinha thanked the alumni for the informative session . He said that he would love to attend several similar events soon.

Varsha- I thought that the session was highly informative and interesting. He explained all the answers to the questions in a way that everybody understood. His descriptions about the college were clear and concise.

Durkesh- The session was very inspiring. I never even once felt bored throughout the session. Since we only have a few months before college, their advice on the courses and what it offers was of a big help to us. I hope to attend several such event in the future.

Anvit- Having Austin on call with us was an amazing experience. His advice on switching fields after 12th was invaluable for many of us, and him telling us about the benefits of doing an MBA was insightful. Having his batchmates join us as well was amazing since we got to know a lot more about the nitty gritty of college life.

Janaki- It was a nice event. There were several seniors who had come to tell us about their experiences. The session was fun and informative and a enjoyed it a lot.

Pramiti-The session was highly informative. It really helped the students understand the various aspects of higher education. It was fun and interesting learning about various degrees, various streams, dorm life etc. looking forward to more sessions like this.

Mrs. Anuradha said that she was incredibly happy with the outcome of the session and that she would try her best to arrange several similar sessions soon.
