This session took place on a virtual platform via zoom and started at around 10:30 pm MYT due to the different time zones that the alumni are living in. The entire batch of Class 11 and some students of Class 12 participated in this session along with a few teachers. A few other alumni like Ms.Devasena and Ms. Divya Menon (2014-15) joined the session. The session was intriguing as they shared their experiences being front liner doctors during the covid pandemic. All of them are still working for the cause, tending to the needs of the patients. They also spoke about the study of medicine and a few commonly thought myths about doctors and the pandemic itself.
Dr, Saloni Patra talked about her days in GIIS when she was appointed the first Head Girl of the school. All of them gave valuable advices, shared some funny incidents working as doctors, talked about the challenges and fears, about their restricted social life and above all they informed us that to be a doctor one has to be compassionate for their patients and passionate about their job. They informed their juniors to always listen to their teachers as they are selfless contributors towards their betterment.
The teachers were so proud seeing their old students for having created niche for themselves. The students too took this opportunity to ask them a variety of questions which were answered in detail by the alumni. Through this session the students gained valuable information which wouldn’t be available elsewhere. Ms. Anuradha expressed her pride for them and all the teachers and students wished them well.
