GIIS-KL Kindergarten celebrated the Chinese New Year in February 2019, with some fun activities in the classroom.
The KG Children were introduced to the Chinese culture and traditions.
Teachers talked about the significance of mandarin oranges, gold ingots, pomelo, ang pow packets etc.
KG 1 children did a classroom activity of peeling mandarin oranges and danced around with a "Chinese Dragon" made by the teachers.
KG 2 Children learnt to use a chopstick. They also were visited by the Year 1 Mandarin teacher Ms.Fei who taught them some Chinese words to greet.
Children had so much of fun playing and dancing to the Chinese New Year songs.
The little children were also treated to a Chinese Lion Dance. They were excited to see the “Lions” and some even had a chance to touch the Lion heads. The "Lions" then distributed oranges and children to all the children.
