GIIS KL Hosts Eco Stage Dress Up Activity for Lower Primary Students

At GIIS KL, nurturing young minds involves a harmonious blend of creativity, responsibility, and joy. This philosophy came to life on Friday, 8th May 2026, as students from Grades 1 and 2 took center stage in their respective classrooms for the highly anticipated Eco-Stage Dress Up Activity. This event was designed to merge imagination with environmental awareness, transforming everyday waste into a vibrant celebration of sustainable fashion.

The classrooms buzzed with excitement as the young learners arrived dressed in extraordinary costumes crafted from plastic bags, cardboard, and newspapers. By turning discarded materials into wearable art, the children gave everyday waste a new lease on life and sent a powerful message about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling. The event beautifully reinforced critical global and institutional values, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including Quality Education, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption, and Climate Action. It also championed several core GIIS GEM values, fostering innovation, creativity, personality development, visual arts, universal ethics, and community care.

The highlight of the day was seeing each child step into the spotlight with immense confidence. Every participant proudly presented their outfit to their peers and teachers, explaining the inspiration behind their design and how their attire reflected a deep care for the environment. This interactive segment not only boosted their public speaking skills but also deepened their understanding of how small, individual actions can contribute to a healthier planet.

The success of the activity was a true testament to the strong community spirit at GIIS KL. Parents played a vital role by supporting the costume preparations at home, while teachers guided the students in school, encouraging them to showcase their independence and artistic flair. Through this joyful and collaborative experience, the Grade 1 and 2 learners discovered that sustainability can be incredibly fun, proving that even the smallest steps can make a massive difference in protecting Mother Earth.
