Celebrating the Heart of Every Home: A Tribute to Mothers at GIIS KL

On the morning of May 9th, 2026, the GIIS KL campus was transformed into a vibrant hub of love and gratitude as the school community gathered for the Mother’s Day Parent Engagement program. Themed "Celebrating the Heart of Every Home," the event brought together students from Year 1 to Year 10 and their mothers for a morning dedicated to recognizing the profound role mothers play in nurturing the next generation.

The celebration commenced in the GIIS KL Auditorium with a moving address by the Principal, Ms. Dipti Joshna. Highlighting the themes of unconditional love and the essential support mothers provide, the Principal’s words set a heartfelt tone for the day. The address emphasized that mothers are the primary architects of a child’s character, and the event served as a sincere "thank you" from the school to the women who shape its community.

The energy shifted to the basketball court for a series of spirited outdoor games. Laughter echoed across the campus as mothers and children teamed up for the Balloon Balance Race, the Cup Pyramid Balloon Challenge, and the precision-based Straw Paper Pick-Up Challenge. These activities were more than just games; they were a testament to the teamwork and synergy inherent in the mother-child relationship.

The excitement reached its peak during the Mother–Child Talent Show. The stage came alive with dynamic dance routines and creative performances that showcased the hidden talents within the GIIS KL family. Each act served as a beautiful reflection of the deep emotional bond and shared joy between the participants, leaving the audience truly inspired.

Beyond the physical activities, the program offered a serene space for artistic expression through various craft workshops. Mothers and children worked side-by-side to create meaningful keepsakes, including handmade flower crowns, bespoke jewelry during the Bracelet Making session, and intricate Glass and Wooden Craft Painting. From painting tote bags to crafting paper bouquets, these sessions encouraged lifelong learning and creativity, aligning with the school’s commitment to holistic education.

The event was deeply rooted in the school’s core values and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By focusing on maternal health and emotional well-being (SDG 3) and honoring the role of women in the family (SDG 5), GIIS reinforced its dedication to gender equality and community care. Furthermore, the collaboration between parents and the school highlighted the power of Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) in creating a supportive environment for children’s growth.

The memorable morning concluded with a prize distribution ceremony to honor the winners of the various challenges and performances. As the event drew to a close at noon, mothers and children departed with more than just handmade crafts; they left with strengthened bonds and cherished memories of a day that truly celebrated the heartbeat of the home.
