KUALA LUMPUR, 25th & 26th April 2020: India's International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN) is a movement to implement its Actionable Goals bearing cognizance of Sustainable Development. IIMUN aims to empower the youth to start taking initiatives to combat global problems. The idea is to move from a classroom discussion and creating tangible change, an attempt at making a borderless world. IIMUN is the World's largest youth-run organization and is the first civil organization to have conducted MUN conferences inside the United Nations Headquarters, New York.
This conference started on 25th of April. There were more than 200 participants, who were divided into 10 committees. Each committee had to deal with a challenge on a global scale. It gives students an insight of how the UN discussions actually happen.
Day one began with the opening ceremony where the guest school Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts lightened up the mood by teaching dance moves to all participants. All participants danced with energy and joy at their respective places. After that, Ms Shreya Jain, a wonderful singer gave her performance and answered some questions. The students got a chance to hear the conversation between Mr. Rashish Sharma and Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai. They were also kind enough to answer some questions asked by the students.
The next day, 26th of April, started with Mr.Shivoham and Ms.Vrinda giving speeches about both physical and mental health. They clarified several doubts from the students on the topic. The rest of the day comprised of committee sessions and statement creation to solve global problems. There was a sequel to this event held on 02nd and 03rd May 2020.
It was a wonderful experience. Work ethics observed by the participants were exemplary. Professionalism was showcased in almost every sphere. They went to the extent of reaching out to the people they had never even met before. It created an atmosphere of universal approach and acceptance.
