Global Indian International School

In October, 2017 a Fire Truck Demo and Fire Safety Guidelines session was organised for the entire school by the Fire Department, Kuala Lumpur. Mr. Kannan M., the Chief Fire Fighting Officer was in-charge of the Demo and the Guidelines classroom.

The Fire Truck Demo was held on the ground, where the various types of fires were explained and the various methods for fighting the same were demonstrated. How to use the fire extinguisher and the various types of extinguishers were explained. Teachers and students volunteered for demonstration and tried their hand at controlling the fire.

The Kindergarten children were excited because they got to see their Community Heroes at close quarters. They got to touch and feel the vehicle and the equipment. It helped them understand their importance. They were impressed by the knowledge and skill the firemen possessed and it was an inspiration for them. Their curiosity was sated by the firemen.

In the session for Fire Safety Guidelines, the secondary students and teachers were briefed on the different causes of fire, the ways to control them and also what preventive measures can be taken to stop a fire from occurring. The various tools required for the prevention and control were also displayed and explained. The importance of being alert and equipped at all times was emphasised upon.

Overall, it was an informative and engaging session.
