With changing times GIIS as a school was quick to adapt to new best practices so that the student learning was not impacted. In that direction the school hosted many virtual events for students to showcase their talent and receive accolades for the same. A few events that were well received were,
- Hindi Divas is an annual celebration on 14 September in India to promote and propagate the Hindi language. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, this year Hindi divas was celebrated on a virtual platform. Knowing the importance of this day, the Students of grade 1 to 10 conducted a special assembly to showcase their skills in Hindi. The students presented various programs highlighting the beauty and uniqueness of this language. The speeches presented were a good opportunity for the students to understand the origin and scope of Hindi Language. The dance performances by our students were impressive too. The younger students (1 to 4 grade) showed their recitation skills and sang a few songs. The older students (5 to 10) also performed the same activities.
- HINDI POEM RECITATION COMPETITION - Reading books is not the only medium of learning but fun filled activities and competitions enhance the learning process. Keeping this in mind a Hindi poetry recitation competition was organized In Global Indian international school - Abu Dhabi for the children of Primary and Higher Section. These activities help the child develop confidence, improve vocabulary and also help the students get rid of stage fear. Children recited different poems with actions and lots of confidence. Children recited the poems on “HINDI DIWAS”. The poems chosen were good and appreciated by all the children. Children were very excited and enthusiastic and performed very well.
- GLOBAL INDIAN STAR SINGING COMPETITION - A virtual singing competition GLOBAL INDIAN STAR was conducted on 23rd July 2020 by GIIS East Coast, Singapore. The student from GIIS, Abu Dhabi Aathimika Patra from Grade 6 participated under Junior Category and won the 1st prize in her category and was also honored with Golden Voice of 2020. Student from 4 E Genelia Ann Praison also received 3rd prize in Sub jr. Category in this above prestigious competition.
