ABU DHABI, 25 April, 2018: Famed artist Michelle Farooqi had an interactive session with the students of Abu Dhabi campus as part of the Leadership Lecture Series, sharing with them her life's journey and some tips of being an illustrator.
Ms Farooqi, widely appreciated for her landscape paintings and deep artistic fervour, taught the students the basics of drawing and illustration. Students were fortunate to have a hands-on session during which they made an impressive little booklet guided by the artist.
The Pakistan-born Ms Farooqi has a notable place among contemporary artists and illustrators with her unique techniques and has been compared with masters of the genre.
The artist shared her journey to fame with the students, sharing how her love for drawing was fostered by her mother. In 1994, she emigrated to Canada with her husband, author and novelist Musharraf Ali Farooqi. While working as an illustrator and website designer, Michelle studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Canada. Later, in search of more traditional art instruction, Michelle joined the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, where she learned 18th century drawing and painting techniques, and acquired expertise in the fields of portraiture, figurative painting and still life, with oil paints, charcoal and graphite.
Each episode in her life towards the excellence was truly inspiring and kindles a flame of determination in the mind of students to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
