The annual sports day for GIIS Balestier campus was held on 11th November 2017 at L .M Singhvi Stadium, GIIS East coast campus. Guest of Honour, Mr. Subir Ghatak, Deputy President, Singapore Cricket Association opened the Meet. Senior GIIS board members were also present at the event.

The event started off with inter house march past and ceremonial lighting of the torch by the last years’ individual and group champions and the Sportsman’s Oath by the Sports Captains. The 50 metres race for Kindergarten 2 was held amidst exciting cheers from parents and students. This was followed by the 100 metres race for classes 1-6. It was a nail-biting race where everyone waited with bated breath to witness the winners of the same.

The relay race followed with Groups of students from various houses competed against each other for the most coveted spot of the champion. All the spectators appreciated a wonderful demonstration of yoga by the students. A 200 metres race was the most anticipated and exciting race of the event.  

The event, which kept the spectators glued to finishing line, was the ‘Obstacle conqueror’, which also evoked a lot of enthusiasm among young athletes. The parents were mesmerized and amazed by the feet of bravery and endurance displayed by the students throughout the event. An aerobic dance by the Class 4-6 girls brought colour to the entire sports meet.

This day was made extra special by the fantastic turn out from the parents. The Meet was concluded with 3-legged race for the parents, which was enjoyed by all the students. The Meet saw its culmination with the Singapore and Indian National Anthem.
