GIIS Balestier students attends SEC Workshop at Anderson Primary School

23 students make history - emerge Toppers and Near-perfect scorers in IBDP 2021 results 

The primary students from Eco Club, Balestier campus had the opportunity to take part in the Initiating Environmental outreach projects. The highlight of the workshop was to take up an environment issue and make an impact. The workshop was conducted at Anderson Primary School, Ang Mo Kio.  

The students were divided into 2 groups and they worked on different issues.

Eco Rangers - Group 1

The group named “Eco Rangers” had Aditya, Malhar, Kshitij, Teerth, and Sunil, who chose to take up the issue of reducing the impact of plastic and Styrofoam used in our canteen to serve food by encouraging students to bring their own lunch box.

They highlighted the impact of reducing the use of plastic and Styrofoam to the environment would be reducing the emission of greenhouse gases, adverse impact on our health and save money.

Green Goblins - Group 2

The second group, “Green Goblins” consisted of Daksh, Ekta, Rizul, Sparsh, Sahil, and Abhay, who chose to take up the issue of reducing wastage of paper in school. They highlighted the impact of saving paper and reduce littering around the school campus. They encouraged people to be aware of the consequences of wasting paper and littering. They also encouraged people to play their part and take responsibility of their actions.

Students were encouraged to do their part to care of the environment by engaging and encouraging participation from members of public.

Students from Anglo Chinese School (Independent), Yusof Ishak Secondary School, Serangoon Secondary School were some of the schools who participated in the workshop. GIIS Balestier students were felicitated for presenting their project.
