Students win art and poetry prizes at 4th International Youth Festival

Three students from GIIS Thailand scored accolades at the 4th International Youth Festival 2020, held virtually from India. Master Ayaan Saini (Grade 6), Miss Jeevika Saini (Grade 9), and Master Supanat Supataraniyopong (Grade 6) all displayed great enthusiasm, resilience, and skill despite the pandemic's many challenges.

The International Youth Festival is an annual event promoting unity and fellowship among all. It is organised by City Montessori School's Rajajipuram Campus II in Lucknow, India, although participation is open to any school around the world. This is the first time it has taken place online.

The festival provides students with an opportunity to engage with their international peers and showcase their skills and talent.

This year's competitions included Expressions (card designing), Myriad Hues (poster making), Photomontage (collage making) and Poetry in Voice (poem recital). All were for students aged 10 to 15.

GIIS Thailand's spirited trio won in the following categories:

  • • 1st, Poetry in Voice (Group A) — Master Ayaan Saini
  • • 3rd, Poetry in Voice (Group B) — Miss Jeevika Saini
  • • Consolation, Expressions (Category A) — Master Supanat Supataraniyopong

Master Ayaan delivered Frederic Ogden Nash's "The Muddlehead" while Miss Jeevika recited "Inner Peace" by Joshua Fraser. Master Supanat's artwork depicted a masked boy soaring through the skies on a pegasus, accompanied by a twist on an Anne Frank quote that says: "Let the source of light defy and define the darkness."

Their achievements are a timely reminder of the value that arts and creativity bring to the world. Congratulations!
