The Traffic Police, Tokyo conducted a workshop for the students of grades 1-3 on ‘Let’s travel Safely!’ at GIIS Tokyo campus, about the awareness and importance of traffic rules. Mr. Takashino and his team, from the Department of Traffic, Kasai, Tokyo, explained the rules to the students.
The workshop highlighted the importance of taking a whole-of-service approach to road safety education. It featured the real life travel experiences of children, families and addresses, local road safety needs and concerns. The students were eager to know of the community-focused road safety rules.
The session aimed at making the students realize how little carelessness or ignorance on the road can prove to be fatal, highlighting the tangible and intangible losses. The workshop presented the latest data on road accidents in the country, encouraging the students to realize the importance of one’s precious life.
“Hurry or Impatience” on the road was declared to be the main cause of accidents and students were motivated to practice time management to overcome that. Besides this, the students were informed about Mandatory, Cautionary and Informatory traffic signals.
The objective of this session was to describe the traffic rules of riding bicycles and how important it is to use a helmet. To make students realize the significance of a human life and to make them aware of the road safety and various traffic rules, an innovative workshop on “Road Safety” and “Traffic Rules” was also organized.
