GIIS Tokyo Campus celebrates Annual Sports Meet

The Annual Sports Meet of GIIS Tokyo Campus was held at Shinden Elementary School, Nishikasai, Edogawa Ku, on 5 June 2016. Mr Takayuki Honda and Mr Tadahiro Tamura from the Security Department of Kasai Police Station graced the occasion as Guests of Honor for the event (classes 3 to 12), and Martial Artist, Mr Angelo Jefferson, graced the event as the Guest of Honor for kindergarteners and classes 1 and 2 event. The guests were welcomed with flower bouquets presented by the students.

The program was conducted in two separate events. The first one was conducted for the kindergarteners and classes 1 and 2 and it culminated at 12.00 noon. Later the event for the rest of the classes began at 12.30 pm and ended at 4.30 pm.

For the first event, students participated in PT displays and various class races. The parents were thrilled to see their wards taking part in the competitions.

The next event began with the march past. All the four houses (Chrysanthemum, Hibiscus, Orchid, and Sunflower) of the school took part in the march past. After the march past, the Guest of Honor, Mr Takayuki Honda, declared the School Sports Meet open. Ms Rajeswary Sambathrajan, Principal, GIIS Tokyo Campus, conveyed her best wishes to the students taking part in different races.

The March Past was followed by relay race, a yoga and karate session, and various other races for all the classes from 3-12. The Guests of Honor, awarded medals and trophies to all the winners.

The trophies awarded this year were in the order of:

Best House Trophy:

Winner: Chrysanthemum House
First runner-up: Hibiscus House

Best March Past Trophy:

Winner: Orchid Houses
First runner-up: Chrysanthemum House
