Know your forces; GIIS Indore students visit the BSF Camp

Republic Day - AUH

To give students of Global Indian International School (GIIS), Indore an insight into the hardship and challenges our jawans i.e. the security forces at the borders face while protecting our nation,  the authorities of the school organised a visit to BSF CSWT campus in the city. Students visited BSF campus on the auspicious occasion of 52nd anniversary of the Raising day of BSF at the central schools of weapons and tactics.

The visit was organised with an objective of creating awareness and give them an opportunity to observe how they conduct and train themselves. This gave them a chance to develop a sense of respect towards our armed forces, understand their sacrifices, and their contributions to society.

Students visited the Artillery Museum, where they were introduced to the functions and roles of the Artillery which also was one of the most important sections of the Indian Army, during the various wars fought by India.  They also got a lot of information on the transition of weapons from bidirectional guns to the modern artillery. Children learned about its rich past and foundation, the mountain artillery's immense hard work of carrying the ammunition to highest elevations, various life-size models of artillery guns, ammunition and missiles used during warfare. They even learnt how soldiers attack the enemy in rough and tough terrains, and were even shown a short movie on BSF prepared by National Geography Channel.

One of the most outstanding acts of the day was that students got an opportunity to meet second-in-command B.K. Singh and DIG Mr Arun Tamble who briefed them about the raising of the BSF and how duties are performed by troops of the battalion alongside the border round the clock. They also guided the students about how to enter in Arm forces and how they should prepare themselves for the entrance exams.

Students even went to the shooting range and got to learn and practice shooting with a pneumatic weapon.  They were given the replica firearms, including pistols and machine guns, and trained to point at targets and practice shooting during the excursion; they also fired shots using weapons and met few international shooters and Archery team members.

This visit left a deep imprint in our student's minds that inspires them to join the Indian armed forces and protect the nation like the jawans. With this visit, we were able to instil a sense of responsibility, courage, faith, and other positive characteristics in our students, thus making them a responsible citizen and a good human being first then anything else.
