Students, teachers and staff of GIIS Dubai gathered in high spirits for a day filled with athleticism, teamwork and fun at the Annual Athletics Meet for Grades 3 to 12.  

The day kicked off with the SLTs and Principal releasing balloons into  the sky before games’ captains carried the official torch around the field. A senior leader then lit the flame and Sports Day was officially declared open. The colourful opening ceremony  featured all the students marching before the house captains hoisted their flags and took the oath of team spirit and discipline. 

The highlight of the event was the series of races that unfolded on the track where students fought tooth and nail for glory.  From the classic sprints to the exciting relay races, students displayed lightning-fast speed, leaving the audience in awe. The cheers and applause from teachers and peers resonated across the campus as competitors dashed towards the finish line, vying for victory. In the end, it was the Hibiscus House who lifted the overall championship trophy. 

In addition to traditional track and field events, the school incorporated unique activities to cater to diverse interests. Students showcased their flexibility and balance in gymnastics routines, drawing gasps of amazement from the spectators. The yoga session by teachers provided a serene contrast, promoting relaxation and mindfulness amid the spirited atmosphere.

The day was not only about competition but also about fostering a sense of sportsmanship and teamwork. The sports day was not just a showcase of physical prowess but also a celebration of unity and friendship among the students.
