July 2022 - A month of growth and success for GIIS Ahmedabad

Dear Parent,

Greetings of the day!

Hope each and everyone of you is doing well. July was indeed the month of accomplishments, growth and success for GIIS Ahmedabad! The month saw a lot of activities taking place in the school for providing a variety of skill sets and experiential learning to our students.

First of all, I would like to congratulate all the students of Class 10 and 12 who performed extremely well in the CBSE Board Exams and achieved meritorious scores. Our students crossed all the barriers and have set an example of hard work, perseverance and dedication. I am delighted to inform you that the top score in Grade 10 across all GIIS Campuses is secured by Garima Chakravarti of GIIS Ahmedabad with 98.8%. The highest percentage at GIIS Ahmedabad in Grade 12 has been secured by Dev Barot with 95.8%. I would like to congratulate all the teachers for putting extra efforts for the benefits of the students during the hybrid learning.

Guru-Shishya tradition is an old tradition in India which has existed for centuries and has transformed over the years. GIIS Ahmedabad students of GMP to Grade 5 celebrated the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima to strengthen the bond with their Gurus. The students expressed their gratitude and affection towards their teachers by making special cards, preparing bracelets, reciting bhajans and expressing their views on the topic - My Guru: My Guide.

Being a signatory to the United Nation Sustainable Development Growth (UNSDG), GIIS Ahmedabad took an initiative to sensitize students towards protecting the environment through ‘No Plastic Week’. The students from GMP to Grade 5 participated in the ‘No Plastic Week’  making paper bags, transforming ‘Trash to Art’, creating posters with a message to avoid using plastic materials, learning and segregating the plastic and non-plastic elements.

GIIS Ahmedabad also created a golden opportunity for the students of Senior School to interact with the delegates of 17 US Universities under the University Connect Programme. During the career counselling session, the students learned about the benefits of studying in the U.S.A., eligibility and process for admission and other information. A ‘Fashion Draping Workshop’ was also organized in association with  the faculty of Bhanwar Rathore Design Studio for the students who are willing to pursue their career in Fashion Designing or Architecture.

Besides the planned activities that were conducted as per the Academic Calendar, we successfully conducted the first cycle of Assessments for the students and the results were shared with the parents during the Parent-Teacher Meeting. A Book Fair was organized for the students to promote reading. Tribute was paid to the Kargil Heroes through special assemblies held on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Divas. National Parents’ Day was an occasion for our students and parents to celebrate their bond.

A ‘GMP Familiarization Workshop’ was organized for the parents of the GMP segment to apprise them about the Global Montessori Plus Programme. ‘Sense Organs Booth’ and ‘Healthy Food Mart’ were put up by the teachers and tiny tots of the GMP segment during the Health and Hygiene Week which drew a lot of visitors.

At last, I would like to wish good luck to the students and members of the community. I am looking forward to an exciting time ahead, where our students perform extremely well in all the activities and competitions!

Warm Regards,

Caesar D’silva
