GIIS Tokyo hosts a Joyful Celebration of Gandhi Jayanti at the Kindergarten Campus

Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, was celebrated with immense enthusiasm and zeal at the GIIS Tokyo Kindergarten campus on the 2nd of October 2023. The day was filled with educational and enlightening activities to impart the values and teachings of Gandhiji to the young students.

The celebration commenced with a special assembly that revolved around the life and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The little ones were introduced to Gandhiji's nonviolent struggle for freedom and equality. In simple and relatable language, the students were reminded of the importance of nonviolence and the virtue of always speaking the truth, values that were central to Gandhiji's philosophy.

During the assembly, the children discovered that Mahatma Gandhi's full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, and he is affectionately known as the Father of the Nation. The significance of this title and the immense respect that the entire nation holds for Gandhiji was conveyed to the kindergarten students. Additionally, the young learners were informed that Gandhiji was lovingly referred to as "Bapu Ji."

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity for the students to see "The Charkha," which was a fundamental tool in Gandhi's campaign for self-sufficiency and independence through the promotion of hand-spun and handwoven fabric. This hands-on experience allowed the children to feel a tangible connection with Gandhiji's life and the iconic symbol of the spinning wheel.

The celebration continued with a heartwarming rendition of the song "Raghu Pati Raghav Raja Ram." This song, a favourite of Mahatma Gandhi, carries profound spiritual and ethical significance. The student's participation in singing this devotional song added a sense of unity and reverence to the occasion.

These activities were thoughtfully organized to instil the core values and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi into the young minds of our society's future citizens. By sharing insights into Gandhiji's life and values, the educators at GIIS Tokyo Kindergarten hope to inspire their students to embrace truth, nonviolence, and the path of righteousness in their own lives.

The celebration of Gandhi Jayanti at GIIS Tokyo Kindergarten was not only a joyful occasion but also a valuable learning experience for the students. By commemorating the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi, the school's educators aim to foster a new generation that values peace, truth, and the principles that Gandhiji stood for, ensuring that his legacy continues to shine brightly in the hearts and minds of the youth.
