Empowering Hearts: Yehansa Manami Rajapakse's 'Glamorous Cupcakes' Fundraiser at GIIS Tokyo

Yehansa Manami Rajapakse, an IBDP 1A student at GIIS Tokyo, took the lead in a remarkable endeavor titled "Glamorous Cupcakes" as part of her CAS participation. Driven by her lifelong fascination with understanding the intricacies of the heart, she seized the opportunity to channel her passion into a meaningful venture

With the aim of supporting children grappling with heart conditions, Yehansa's cupcake sale targeted a fundraising goal of 150,000 yen, with approximately 110,000 yen already raised. The project not only encouraged active community involvement but also extended assistance to those in need, aligning with the ethos of her school's 9 GEMS, embodying principles of innovation, creativity, and community care.

The funds generated through the sale were designated for donation to the Japan Heart Organization, a respected NGO dedicated to providing vital medical care, emotional support, and resources to children facing heart failure. GIIS Tokyo firmly believes in the collective power of the school community to effect meaningful change in the lives of these young individuals and their families.

At the heart of the campaign's success lay the virtue of kindness, evident in the unwavering support and participation of Yehansa's peers. She acknowledged that kindness often eclipses sheer intelligence in the pursuit of achievement. By raising awareness and offering assistance to children in need, Yehansa and her fellow students exemplified the transformative impact of compassion and empathy.
