‘Look, I made a Balcony Bird House because I-Care…’

(Global Indian International School)

Watching birds in tranquil gives some sort of happiness which is inexplicable. They might be dainty little creatures but they have the puissance to captivate man’s heart and soul at a single glance. Birds bring out in us the protectiveness and humbleness with which we aspire to nurture these winged animals.

To sensitise young students about their surroundings, nature, animals and the society at large, the pre-primary segment organised I-Care: Balcony Bird House. The students, with the help of their teachers, and made a cosy little bird house and placed it in the school campus. The teachers explained to the inquisitive students that birds build nests, hatch eggs and live in nests, so their homes should be protected and not destroyed. Few artificial birds were placed in this bird house and the little students then fed the birds with seeds and water. They were amazed and excited and were seen carefully feeding these toy birds as if they were real! Teachers taught the students to love these delicate winged animals and be sensitive towards them.

And, to extend this activity, the students have made it a routine to visit the bird house in the school campus and also feed little birds around the school campus.
