The Annual Sports Meet of GIIS Surat was organized on 30th November 2013. The sports meet consisted of a string of events conducted over a week, where students enthusiastically participated in Volleyball, football, Cricket, tug of war and KhoKho games.

Ten schools from Surat participated in the skating competition and sixty children from the participating schools took part in all the events. There were fun games for houses like the sack race, book balancing, skipping, lemon and spoon etc. Each student got an opportunity to participate either in a team event or in the fun games.

The event was graced by Mr. David Paul, Sports Director, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University as the Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour were Ms. Pooja Charushi, Bronze Medal Winner in Triathlon and Mr. Chetan Patel, CEO, Ahmedabad Motor Repowering. There were other special invitees and parents to cheer the participants. Mr. David Paul declared the sports meet ‘open’. The guests were greeted with a welcome song and an aerobic performance.

The occasion was marked by the inauguration of skating rink and the swimming pool at GIIS Surat Campus.

Children exhibited their fitness through the events of the sports meet. Leaders led the four houses in a spectacular march past. The budding athletes displayed their skills too. Parents were thrilled to see the children in action in the colorful array of events.

Some parents, teachers and the non-teaching staff also participated in fun games. The children enjoyed watching their teachers and parents in action. The Sports Meet concluded with the prize distribution ceremony and the national anthem.

Principal Pushpy Dutt highlighting the spirit of sportsmanship said, "Sometimes, it@aps@s just a simple game. But often, sports is much more than that. It is full of life’s lessons. It can teach you about failure, joy, disappointment, excitement, winning and losing. About maturity, teamwork, humility and selflessness".
