Students make waves at annual swimming meet

The annual swimming meet of 2018 was conducted over a course of three days on the 24th, 25th and 28th January at the local Queenstown Swimming complex, which is near GIIS Queenstown campus.
Over 60 students had participated from classes 6th to 9th grade. And this had been an exciting and fair opportunity for students to compete with their peers which boosted sportsmanship and healthy competition amongst the students. The swim meet was organized and supervised by Kuldeep Singh Panwar and Prasanna Jenita who are the of PE head teachers secondary and primary campus respectively.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;
The meet had offered four activities for all students to partake in:

<li>50 m freestyle&nbsp;</li>
<li>50 m breaststroke</li>
<li>50 m backstroke&nbsp;</li>
<li>50 m butterfly</li>
</ul>
It was well organized and there were no delays; for example, the time trials itself were conducted very professionally with proper heeding to the right stroke being executed and accurately timed by a stopwatch.
Before the trails started all students were clearly instructed by the teachers in charge of the order of activities. Participants completed round in the fastest timing were declared as first, second and third winners.
Some of the highlights are as given below:
Shlok Brahmakshatriya (7B) won 1st place in 50M freestyle (40.35sec), 50M butterfly (58.03sec) and 50M backstroke (53.05sec), while Shreyas Dalvi (7A) secured 1st place in 50M breaststroke for completing the round in just 50.19sec.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Shreya Sharma (6C) bagged 1st place in 50M freestyle (52.71) and 50M backstroke (1.04.34), while Avika Bajaj (7D) completed 50M breaststroke (1.02.24) and 50M butterfly in the fastest timing (1.10.90) to secure the 1st position.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Bishmit Rout (8B) and Anusha Bakshi (8IGB) were very quick in their attempts that both scored 1st position in all the 4 activities under boys and girls section respectively.
