Parents, students and teachers came together to celebrate the outstanding achievement of nine learners who were recipients of the prestigious ‘Cambridge Outstanding Learning Awards – Top in the World’ for the IGCSE board examinations held in May/June 2017.

The students received their awards at a special ceremony held at the Queenstown Campus of Global Indian International School on January 10, amid cheers and ovation from peers. The awards were from Cambridge Assessment International Education for the Cambridge IGCSE Examinations conducted during June 2017 series.   

The programme started with the school prayer, followed by the Principal’s address to the audience. One of the student awardees as well as the Deputy Head Girl also addressed the audience and encouraged the students, who were to take their board examinations in the coming summer to put in their best effort and wished them luck.

Students of the school band and the dance team put up spectacular performances and concluded the occasion with fun and laughter, leaving all in high spirits.

Venkata Aditya Yelisetti, IB YR1D received the world topper for Mathematics without coursework said, “The sense of achievement from receiving the award has made me feel incredible. I practiced almost every day to achieve top mark because I wanted my time and effort to turn into something more than an A*.” 

Another student Gargi Joshi IB YR 1C, world topper for Mathematics without course book said, “A healthy competition was one of my major motivational factor. The only way I achieved this was by maintaining consistency all the way.”

A jubilant Sarthak Saxena of IB YR 1D, also a world topper for Mathematics without course book said, “My advice to my juniors is that try to solve as many past papers as possible and make sure you understand all the concepts.”
