Board exams for every 10th grade student calls in for a lot of hard work and smart goal planning. What matters for students at this point of time is how they plan and set their targets. By doing so, they get fair amount of idea of the direction they should work towards, and channelize their efforts for achieving the same.

To encourage realistic goal setting and planning among senior students of the school, Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida conducted a personalized goal setting session for grade 10 students. The session was taken by Ms. Sunita Jaisingh – National Academic Head, Scholastics, GIIS India to make students understand the importance of realistic goals.

The session began with interactive games for students, who were split into two groups of 7 students each. Students were made to hit three targets kept in line at equal intervals. Each group was given a task to describe their probability of putting the sacks into the baskets i.e. their chance of accomplishing their goals. It was a team play and each team member contributed to the achievement of the task given. The idea was to allow students understand simple basics of goal setting, and how setting realistic goals can help them become successful in future.

Apart from the interactive game session, students were engaged in goal writing activity to help them determine and focus on immediate, short term and long term goals. This way they get a chance to self-analyse their strong and weak areas, and work accordingly to gain maximum achievement rate. The idea was to motivate students to come forth and discuss their career plans along with the ways they plan to achieve and prepare for it.

Through the means of this interactive session, students of grade 10 of GIIS Noida got an opportunity to have a reality check and understand the fact that hard work coupled with small achievable targets can get them to their desired accomplishment.
