Maths is known for sharpening analytical skills and decision capabilities in students. Certain concepts of the subject hold the power to develop virtues that not only transforms personality, but also sharpens reasoning capacities of individuals.

Inculcating love for mathematics and its concepts, Maths week was organized for students of Grade 1 to 9 with lots of practical activities.  Students from each grade were engaged in different activities spread over a week. Grade 1 and 2 students made patterns (using triangles, circle, squares, etc.) and clock (showing 3 O’ clock and 6 O’ clock) respectively. Students from other grades participated in activities like: preparing a list of items with rates per unit and calculating the total amount to be paid, documenting measurements of mass, length, and capacity of objects, creating different angles using match sticks on coloured sticks, represent the collected data on graphs, etc.

The most exciting activity was conducted for 6th graders, as students were engaged in a quiz. Rounds were based on visuals i.e. students had to identify mathematical quantities/symbols.  Students from grade 8 made spectacular board games to be played with dice. Questions based on mathematics replaced the dice for getting a chance to play or move forward. Grade 9 students on the other hand, prepared working models based on subject concepts.

The objective behind conducting a week long activity was to sensitize students about the importance of subject on one’s personality. Students got a chance to brainstorm and come up with ideas that left the faculty amazed, as they exhibited skills of highest demeanour. Students got an opportunity to learn about mathematical concepts yet develop activity management skills altogether.
