Oviya Baugh

"Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask your father, and he will show you; your elders, and they will tell you."

Every society, over the years has developed its own culture and heritage and made attempts to preserve it for the future generations. Its unique facts, knowledge, values, and traditions are an endowment of unique sets of historical knowledge that make individuals.

Every year Global Indian International School (GIIS) organized the INTER GIIS Heritage Quiz for senior students. This year looking at the success of the quiz, Scholastic and Co-Scholastic heads decided that such types of quiz should be started for the junior students too. Students from grades 3 to 5 were involved in the competition where they had to prepare their knowledge around famous personalities, monuments, flora, fauna, festivals, dance, music etc. from three states of India. Put simply, their knowledge about the rich heritage of our country. Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat were the states allotted to each campus participating in the quiz.

A team of three best students from each campus was selected to represent their geo in the competition and was hosted by students of GIIS Indore. Students from GIIS Noida, Bengaluru, Chinchwad, and Surat took part in the competition with complete preparation and enthusiasm. Ms. Vaishali Borde (National Head, Co-scholastics, GIIS India) and Ms. Sunita Jaisingh (Academic Head, GIIS India) presided over the competition as mentors to boost the confidence of the participating teams.

After a nerve wrecking competition, GIIS Chinchwad won the quiz by scoring the highest. Team Noida and Ahmedabad bagged second and the third spot respectively. This initiative was an attempt to inculcate knowledge and understanding about the heritage of our country for the junior classes. Each participant gave their best shot and with much excitement.

Our junior wing students did exceptionally well.
