Yoga is an ancient art of living, which is also a science of achieving union of body, mind and spirit. Yoga is taught at GIIS so that students learn how to increase their power of concentration, physical agility and mental balance.

On the morning of International Yoga Day, 21st June, 2015, 25 students of GIIS gathered at the Cheras Badminton Stadium (indoor stadium) to celebrate International Yoga Day in conjunction with the Indian Culture Centre (ICC). It was a special occasion as the High Commissioner of India to Malaysia, Shri T S Tirumurti, had personally invited our students to display their yoga skills along with participants from other schools and the Indian diaspora.

The Yoga Asanas performed by our students included natural movements and postures of breathing techniques (Pranayama), relaxation techniques and concentration techniques required for the body and brain for optimal physical, mental and emotional control, along with creation of inner joy and peace to bring about effective learning in a disciplined mind.
