Regular people like you and me, harbouring financial fears such as paying off house mortgage, car loans, credit card debts and education expenses; figuring out how to save money for short-term goals like buying a better car, medium-term goals like raising a down payment on a larger home and long-term goals like paying for our children@aps@s tertiary education, funding our own retirement, raising business working capital, and even retaining our jobs! Those fears are heightened by the rising complexity of the world of finance and investment. For many of us, it seems things grow a little more opaque with every passing day.

@aps@Building Your Financial Fortress@aps@, a talk on financial literacy awareness for GIIS parents, was conducted by Mr Rajen Devadason, an author and a Certified Financial Planner, on 30 May 2015 under the aegis of the Global Parenting Forum. This talk was brought to parents through GIIS’ financial literacy partner, MoneyTree (www.moneytree.asia).

In the hour long session, Devadason shared his insights by teaching parents the fundamental building blocks of financial planning. He included an over-arching requirement for financial goals and success; core components of a financial plan; and an easy-to-remember blueprint to attain financial freedom.

Parents had commented "superb", "seminar was very beneficial effective presentation", "very good", "it was very helpful" after attending the event.

Global Parenting Forum is an initiative by Global Indian International School to provide a platform for parents and domain experts to share their knowledge and experience with other GIIS parents - in areas of child care, upbringing, and career orientation, which go beyond the school education and learning.
