GIIS India campuses conducted “Art and Essay Writing” competitions as a part of the Real World Challenges Convention (RWCC), 2017 to be held at GIIS East Coast Singapore on 17th November, 2017. This was a prejudged event whose shortlisting for the final round was conducted by each campus at respective school premises. Providing GIIS students with international exposure, the RWCC competition provides a platform for GIIS students to network, foster innovation and international entrepreneurial skills like never before.
Global Indian International School (GIIS), Bangalore conducted the final round of the competition where students from Nursery onwards participated with great enthusiasm and fervour. The idea was to allow students to think out of the box, and pen down their thoughts and opinions on paper. The topics for this year’s essay writing competition for the 2 categories i.e. Middle School (MS, Grades 6-8) and Secondary (SEC, Grades 9-12) students were - “The future of technology and its limitations” and “Change in the hands of innovators and thinkers”.
All students from Grades 6-9 participated in the first round and out of the many entries received, 3 from every category were shortlisted. Students shortlisted for the final showdown are as follows:

Besides this, the Art competition envisaged a lot of creative expressions on paper. This was for Grades 1-5 students. The topic being ‘Recycled to Renewed’ gave wings to the imagination of students to sketch amazing pictorial descriptions. The students brought their imagination of an eco-friendly world and the ways of recycling organic and plastic wastes. Students were judged on their creative skills along with other rubrics like theme relevancy, presentation, clarity of the message, etc. The Art competition was also conducted for the Pre Primary students which was called GIIS Lil Mavericks. Out of the many entries received, 3 from each category were shortlisted for the final round. Students shortlisted for the final showdown are as follows:
