The first session of Global Parenting Forum took place at GIIS Whitefield campus on Positive Parenting, which was moderated by well known author and educator, Mr. Shiv Khera.
The highlight of the session was that all campuses of India, Singapore and Malaysia were connected through video conference and parents from these campuses joined in with much enthusiasm. Another sizeable group of parents from across the globe watched over live webcast. Parents of young school going children waited in anticipation to hear what Mr. Khera had to say.
Mr. Khera started the session by addressing issues that parents face while bringing up their children in the current scenario. He stressed upon values and discipline that parents need to practice in order to inculcate them in their children. He shared various case studies that emphasized on discipline being a part of affection. He further explained the difference between disciplining, child abuse and delinquency.
Another important area of parenting is building the right attitude. Attitude, according to Mr. Khera, gets built by the age of 7 and between 1 to 7 years of age is the time to imbibe the right values. The Attitude of a parent being the key to determining a child’s development curve, it is important that parents adopt the right attitude towards parenthood and life in general. Every parent walked away with actionable points for becoming a better parent in order to bring out the best in his or her child.
Mr. Ramesh Mudgal, Principal GIIS Whitefield, Bangalore thanked the parents for taking out time on a weekend to attend the session and promised to come back with similar workshops for their benefit.
“I am extremely impressed by the first session of the Global Parenting Forum. It is heartening to see the mesmerized audience noting down points and asking various questions related to parenting. The encouraging response of the parent fraternity gives us the impetus to conduct more such events in the near future.” Said Mr. Rajeev Katyal, Country Director, GIIS India. |
