In August, 2016, the entire world joined hands for peace as part of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony which is held in Hiroshima every year. The students of Global Indian International School, Bangalore remembered the brave souls and spread the message of peace.

For 'Peace Day', the Pre Primary students of KG2 were told the story about the brave girl Sadako in Hiroshima, who fought the 'A-Bomb disease' but finally became a twinkling star up in the heaven. It is said that a Children's Peace Monument was built in her name. A bell was hung with "A Thousand Paper Cranes" on the front and "Peace on Earth and in Heaven" on the back. The students observed a minute’s silence in memory of Sadako. The little ones also made peace symbols, miniature cranes, wrist bands and cute hand impressions in white. It was lovely to see these angelic messengers of Peace dazzling in their white attires.

Grade 3 to 8 students of the Primary wing presented a Special assembly to share the story of the innocent victims who gave their life in the deadly atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. There was a special presentation to emphasize on the necessity of peace in the world. They performed a skit with the theme on ‘War and Memories’ as well. The dance performance reflected the power of peace to the entire mankind. All students and teachers observed a minute silence remembering the victims of the war.
