India Team Cricketers join Annual Sports Day at GIIS Whitefield Bangalore

Global Indian International School (GIIS), Whitefield, celebrated its 4th Annual Sports Day with a grand surprise. The day also witnessed the inauguration of the Middle School block along with the splendid events displayed by the students on the Sports Day. The Chief Guests Mr. K L Rahul and Mr. Karun Nair of the Indian Cricket Team graced the occasion with their special presence.

Mr. Ganesh Sharma, Principal, GIIS Bangalore, said, “The education system is continuously evolving and the resources play an important role in the curriculum delivery mechanism. We, at GIIS try to ensure that we are able to provide our learners with new-age facilities, multiple options of co-curricular activities that would aid the learning skills and multifaceted growth of our students.”

The day began with the Sports Day fiesta by the students of the Pre-Primary block. Chief Guest Commander. Amit Maini, Guest of Honour Ms. Aditi Chakraborty, Mr. Ram Prakash and Mr. Anurag Sharma were there grace the event with their presence. The magic began with the Unfurling of the school flag and the colourful balloons were set free to sail high up the sky! The events such as drill, march past, hula hoop, torch relay and gymnastics were some of the many highlights of the sports day for the little kiddies of GIIS Bangalore.

This was followed by the inauguration of the new building for middle school by the Cricket Celebrities and the Guest of Honours for the Sports Day. They were welcomed by a welcome by the young riders on horseback offering flower bouquets while trotting in front of the guests. The icons of Indian Cricket Team were pleasantly amused at the innovative greetings. It set the mood for the following events as the students of the four houses namely Chrysanthemum, Hibiscus, Orchid and Sunflower led by their respective House Captains marched by. They held their flags with pride and were followed by the school Band Troupe who marched in style playing the drums and pipes in harmony. The Chief Guests passed on the torch to the Sports Captain and declared the ‘Meet Open’ and released the mascot.

Students participated in various drills, races, yoga, archery, riffle shooting and martial arts demonstrations that created euphoria in the audience. The cricketers gave away prizes to the winners and encouraged each and every student to give their very best.  The House championship trophy was won by Hibiscus, the first Runner Up was Orchid.

The young and vibrant cricketers spoke about the spirit of sportsmanship, focus and discipline as the core ingredients of all sports, led by passion and commitment to achieve excellence. The Sports Day was truly enjoyed by the parents, teachers and the students with high appreciation from all the guests.
