GIIS Students Triumph at OakMUN 2016, Bangalore

Excellence is always achieved as the result of hard work and discipline in the learning process. The Global Indian International School students of Grade 8 have proven this fact again at OakMUN 2016. Oakridge Model United Nations (OakMUN) is a high school conference. Oakridge Model United Nations was established in 2011 as a forum for students across Hyderabad to grow beyond classroom studies, specifically within the areas of debate and diplomacy. OakMUN 2016 was held in Oakridge International School, Bangalore on the 26th and 27th of August. Among the various schools who had assembled to participate in the prestigious conference, GIIS Bangalore is proud of the performance by the brilliant students of Grade 8 who participated in the conference. Aadithya Suresh Kumar, Piya Sarah Kurian and Rishabh Singh Karki represented Greece-UNESCO, Egypt-WHO and Switzerland-HRC respectively. They were accompanied by Mrs.Amanpreet and Mrs.Sabitha who have been a guiding light to help these students prepare and perform best for OakMUN 2016.

Aadithya stood FIRST for his Position paper that was unanimously appreciated by the judges on the basis of the creativity and factual details. Position paper is a very significant part of the agenda of a committee. His confident presentation involved identification of problems and suggesting the best solutions in the formal tone that is a genre of every MUN conference. He included all the details clearly and creatively in his Position paper.

OakMUN 2016 was a wonderful opportunity for students from various schools to showcase their knowledge about current issues in various countries and suggesting ways to combat those problems. This being a replica of United Nations General Assembly, the formal tone in delivering any paper and also the qualities of planning, analysing and decision making ability is developed among the students to a great extent. The GIIS students were marshalling with confidence in communication and excellent presentation of papers at the conference.

Keep it up GIISians!
