Cheering a powerful and positive beginning

After the ‘Lighting of the Lamp’ ceremony the students were all set to create magic on stage.  The Annual Report by Mr. Ganesh Sharma (Principal) encompassed a year of achievements for GIIS Bangalore.  Mr. Kiran Prakash was impressed by the theme and looked forward to witness the dramaturgy surprise. The inspiring and motivating words of appreciation by Ms. Vaishali Borde for the students was overwhelming as she strongly believed that all GIIS students delivered their best at all times.   EUPHORIA – as the name suggests, showcased the jubilation of music, dance and drama in the most creative expressions by the students. The Pre Primary students came up on stage to capture everyone’s hearts with their vibrant performances. The ‘fashion show’ by Nursery was fascinating, where the small wonders walked the ramp clad in fairy tale and animated characters from Disney and Pixar. This was followed by a series of dances by KG 1 and KG 2 students to showcase the evolution of  the various musical instruments from across the global and their respective sounds, was definitely a carnival of music elucidating the connection of the ‘Story of Music’ to mankind.

Conjoining the dance forms from across the world - Primary

The Primary students gave a contemporary and classical fusion. The dance styles ranged from the very energetic Salsa and Zumba styles to the traditional Bharatnatyam and Kathak. The Dashavatar dance epitomized the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu to represent ten incarnations. The tribute to Michael Jackson was a power-packed tribute to the legend.  The Bengali dance from West Bengal, the katputli dance from Rajastan, Mahishasura dance, Kalaripayattu from Kerala, thematic dance based on elements of Nature, Namo namo Bharata Ambe dance, hip-hop dance, Krishna dance, contemporary and classical fusion were all unique and depicted the implication of every style towards the institution of world’s dance academy.

Charming through chords of music, poreotics and Maleficent play - Secondary

There was a Ranglo Fusion dance from Gujarat where the students were clad in colorful ghagras. There was then a Poreotics surprise, the famous Asian American dance style where Po stood for popping, Reo for choreography and Tics for robotics. The Grand Finale was a perfect blend of classical and contemporary styles of dance. There was a surprise from the world of drama. The play on Maleficent was a magnificent performance where the entire story was shown with picture-perfect backdrops and excellent props. The drama looked much like the original and the dialogue delivery was very impactful. The passion for drama and acting was obvious in every scene by the students.

Congratulating the pillars behind the magic of Euphoria

In an era ruled by the movie songs and dances, the students depicted the purest forms of dances from different states of India and abroad. The Indian association with dance, dates back to the majestic era in history where artists from different areas performed with perfection in their steps and pride of their inherited talent. GIIS Bangalore students recreated that Golden era with a perfect tribute to the classical and western forms of dance by every student.  Special thanks was offered to Mr. Ganesh Sharma, Ms. Preetha D’Mello (Head Mistress), Ms. Aracha Sinha and Ms. Swati Mishra (Academic Coordinators), Ms. Amanpreet Garg (Activity Head), the Art department, the dance teachers, the IT and music department, all the teachers, the admin and the GIIS support staff who helped towards creating Euphoria. Planning, creative presentations and dedicated practice was the key to the success of Euphoria by the GIIS Bangalore students.
