Book week mesmerizes the small wonders of GIIS Bangalore!

Okutama, Nishitama district

GIIS Bangalore Pre-Primary students love the world of fantasy stories whether it be a cartoon or fairy tales or super heroes. The Book Week is a fascinating week for all the students as they get a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading about their favourite fictional characters and authors. The week long association with books is like a festival where inspiring characters from books make way to cheer up the students in myriad ways.

Day 1 of the Book Week was amazing as the tiny tots came dressed up as their favourite characters. Some of them also carried the book complementing the character that they represented. The students spoke about the character with expressions and some of them even told the entire story. It was interesting to see the cherubic ones all excited to flaunt their fantasy clothes and props.

Day 2 of the Book Week was their GIIS Library Visit wherein the little ones were told about the importance of the library and that they had to keep silence. The curious ones were thrilled when taught to flip the pages in the right manner. They were told that books are to be respected and in turn they give us an ocean of knowledge. The kiddies also enjoyed story narration by their respective teachers in the Colourful Story Corner.

The Book Week became all the more interesting on Day 3 for the little ones, when some of the parents came and took a story telling session. They read out a story and some of them also used props for the same. The Pre-Primary kids were smart to answer the questions based on the story.

The Literary Quiz on Day 4 conducted for KG1 and KG2 students was informative and inspiring. In fact all the Pre-Primary students who participated were so familiar with the characters, names and the plot of the stories, based on which the questions were framed. The answers were on their fingertips.

The Puppet Show on Day 5 was a creative surprise for the Pre-Primary children. As the characters came into action alongside the narration, the children watched in silence and also clapped in sheer excitement. It was a wonder to see some of their favourite characters walk, hop and even speak! Nursery kids designed cute bookmarks with blue ribbon bows and hearts.

The Book Week at Global Indian International School (GIIS) Bangalore was joyful and the children showed their immense interest in reading, listening and watching stories. The characters become their idol and the kids also learn the good morals communicated through the books meant for their age.
