‘Respect has to be earned’, learn GIIS Ahmedabad kindergartners

MGCUV

MGCUVAs children our parents always told us that ‘Respect has to be earned’, right? And, what needs to be earned, requires hardwork and perseverance. But, back then we paid little heed to this lofty statement which flew over our heads. And, then as we grew up we realised that that ‘understatement’ holds the key to all happiness in life. It’s as old as a mountain!

So, the kindergarten teachers decided to teach their little students the value of ‘Respect’, following the saying - The sooner the better! Inculcating compassion, gratitude and respect in their students, the teachers presented an enactment in the Mahatma Gandhi Centre for Universal Values (MGCUV) hall. Global Indian International School strongly follows Gandhiji’s ideologies and imbibes his teachings in the curriculum to impart ethical and moral values to students.

The enactment saw teachers portraying as students and teaching them to respect family, teachers, maids, animals and trees and plants. The children were fascinated to see their teachers act like them and promised to respect all things big or small, living or non-living. The interactive and creative teaching by the teachers stirred the visual/spatial learning in the students.

Gandhiji had said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”. Hence, ‘Respect’ is earned by respecting ourselves and others equally. Gandhiji’s wise words have changed lives of many across the world and our little GIIS students had learnt their share of wisdom - Respect everyone around you!
