Students and teachers of GIIS Abu Dhabi observed the International Day of Peace in September 2015, which is celebrated by United Nations (UN), each year, to recognize the efforts of those who have worked hard to end conflict and promote peace.

The day began with the students assembling in the multi-purpose hall at 9.15 A.M. Mr. Rajendran Padmanabhan, Administration Manger, GIIS Abu Dhabi introduced the students to Peace Day programme by explaining its significance. Reading of verses from the holy Quran by Ms. Fathima, ensured that everyone at GIIS Abu Dhabi prayed for well-being and peace in the world. Ms. Naina Claudius & Ms. Maimuna Jabeen, teachers of GIIS Abu Dhabi in simple words explained to the little ones about the concept of peace, what it stands for, and why there is a for need peace and ways to achieve it. The important part of the event was a 2-minute observation of silence by all. This was heartening to see the tiny tots at their best attempt to sincerely observe silence. The gathering later dispersed to their respective classes and students from each class performed an activity to commemorate the International Peace Day.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Mr. Atul Temurnikar, Chairman and Co-founder Global Schools Foundation. He attended the programme and appreciated the efforts of GIIS Abu Dhabi to promote world peace. Mr. Amol Vaidya, Director Operations led the event with his dynamic presence.

Thus the first assembly of GIIS Abu Dhabi began with a message of World Peace for everyone and it has surely set a bench marks for the future assemblies to follow.
