Being the best example of the above adage, 13-year-old Aditri Shome, the future grandmaster of GIIS Ahmedabad has earned fame all over again. GIIS Ahmedabad is thrilled to announce that Aditri Shome, a Grade 7 student has emerged as a champion of the girl's category at the Gujarat State U-17 Inter-School Chess Selection for Nationals 2024.

Aditri paved her way to the national level by scoring 4.6 points out of 6 in the chess selection competition. The national-level competition will be held in Bihar. Her outstanding victory has also been featured in notable print publications like the Times of India, Gujarat Samachar and Divya Bhaskar.

She has been the epitome of perseverance, hard work, and dedication for the kids of her generation. Her performance has not only made her parents and school proud but also the Gujarat state believes that she has the brightest future like her chess idol Judit Polgar. She again quoted her positive thoughts from her last interview, “The more you think of the result, the more stressful the journey will be for you. Always believe in your hard work and practice as much as you can.”

Aditri has also emerged as a New West Zone Champion in the Khel MahaKumbh U-14 Chess tournament and will be the only player representing GIIS Ahmedabad in the state-level championship tournament. Besides chess, Aditri has proved her mettle in academics as well by securing more than 80% in her half-yearly exams. The chess player, who aspires to be an engineer, practices 5 to 6 hours a day.
