With remarkable precision in the kicks, finesse in the tackles, and unwavering hard work and dedication, Jayshil Sompura, a grade 8 student of GIIS Ahmedabad has made his mark by securing his spot among the final six in the India Khelo Football talent scouting program. He outshone 250 participants competing nationwide across cities in India.

Recently, Jayshil played the trial match for the selection in the nationals and nailed it. Congratulations to our football champion for the trial. We are sure that Jayshil will shine like always in the competition.

This year has been extraordinary for our GIIS Ahmedabad’s shining star. He led the U-14 boys’ team as a captain and won the laurels for the school at various tournaments. In July 2023, the football team won the city-level round of the 62nd Pre-Subroto International Football Tournament. Under his captaincy, the team also bagged the trophy in the final round against SGVP International School with a score of 3-0.

In September 2023, the U-14 football team bagged the title of Champions in the School Games Federation of India (SGFI). GIIS Ahmedabad football team under the captaincy of Jayshil Sompura won the final match against Udgam School with a score of 1-0.

In the ARA Future League Football Tournament, the football team remained undefeated to win the final match against SGVP International School.

While sharing his experience, he said, “I am extremely thankful to Kshitij Sir, Principal Sir and Raj Ma’am for giving me a golden opportunity to enhance my football skills and be a part of the football team. I think all my teachers are always supporting and guiding me.”

For India Khelo Football achievement, he said, “IKF is a once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity for my football career. IKF gives a lot of exposure to the students, wherein students learn from each other as well. I am looking forward to such opportunities at a higher level.”
