GIIS Ahmedabad hosts its 1st Annual Felicitation Ceremony to applause our ECA/CCA Champions

“Success is the sum of small efforts - repeated day in and day out.” - Robert Collier

Honours and awards are bestowed on those who transform their hobbies into passion. Celebrating success not only motivates the achievers but also inspires others to strive for excellence. It is a reminder that hard work, dedication and perseverance can lead to extraordinary results. We at Global Indian International School (GIIS) Ahmedabad recognise every success which motivates students to ‘ do their best’.

The stakeholders including the school management, teachers, and parents gathered together to recognise the talent of students in various non-academic pursuits. It was a moment of pride for us to congratulate and felicitate more than 600 Extra-Curricular/Co-Curricular Activities (ECA/CCA) achievers for the academic year 2023-24.

The Chief Guest - Ms. Smita Kumari, a yoga practitioner and Guinness World Record holder and Ms. Monika Gupta- a renowned author, the School Principal - Mr. Caesar D’silva, Vice Principals and the coordinators inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp to invoke God's blessings. Ms. Khyati, the dance teacher graciously presented the classical dance which served as a treat to the eye and ears.

The pivotal part of the event was recognising the outstanding achievement of GIIS Ahmedabad ECA/CCA Champions. The Awards and recognition certificates were presented to the students who have excelled in sports (Football, Basketball, Skating, Cricket, Handball, Martial Arts, Badminton, Swimming and Chess), Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Leadership Roles, Community Service and other extracurricular endeavours. This recognition served to acknowledge their hard work, perseverance and positive contributions to the school community.

Aditri Shome, GIIS Ahmedabad Chess champion shared her experience, “The year has been extraordinary. This year, one of the biggest achievements was the Asian Youth Chess Championship, which was held in the UAE. Participating in the international tournament has increased my ELO rating to 81 among all chess players.” She added, “I would like to thank GIIS management coordinators, teachers and most importantly my parents.”

The address by the chief guest and guest of honour inspired the audience to pursue their passions wholeheartedly and to embrace opportunities for personal and professional development beyond academic achievements.

The event concluded with the closing remarks from the ECA/CCA coordinator, Ms. Rajkunwarba Patel, where she emphasised the ongoing support for ECA/CCA initiatives and encouraged students to continue exploring their interests and talents. The event ended on a high note with students, parents, teachers and guests feeling proud of the accomplishments of the school community.

The Annual Felicitation Ceremony at GIIS Ahmedabad was a resounding success, celebrating the diversity of talents and achievements among students. It reinforced the school’s commitment to nurturing holistic development and providing opportunities for students to excel beyond the confines of traditional academics. The event served as a reminder of the invaluable role that extracurricular and co-curricular activities play in shaping well-rounded individuals and fostering a vibrant school community.
