Exploring the frontiers of Space: GIIS Ahmedabad’s educational visit to ISRO

In a transformative educational journey, grade 9 and 10 students of Global Indian International School (GIIS), Ahmedabad recently had the unique opportunity to visit the Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition Centre (VSSE) at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) as part of an enriching field trip. This exceptional experience organised by the Career Counselling and University Guidance team broadened their horizons and ignited a deep passion for space exploration and science.

The insightful presentation aimed to convey ISRO’s achievements, aspirations, and challenges through various mediums such as working models, live panels, static displays, a 3D theatre, and interactive multimedia presentations. Students had the opportunity to grasp the intricacies of space launch vehicles, satellites, remote sensing devices, communication tools, and more through hands-on experiences and informational sessions.

The visit also included an interactive session where students engaged in discussions with scientists and engineers. During the interactive sessions, students were introduced to YUVIKA, a pioneering young scientist program specially designed for budding scientists. Through this program, ISRO’s vision is to provide a platform to nurture their scientific aspirations and contribute to advancing knowledge in the field.

Mr. Caesar D’silva, Principal of GIIS Ahmedabad highlighted the importance of such educational excursions. “These visits are invaluable in shaping students’ perspectives and motivating them to pursue their interests passionately. Experiences like these can have a profound impact on their future choices.”

We at GIIS Ahmedabad believe the trip to ISRO is more than just a visit. As these young minds return to their classrooms, they carry with them memories of rockets and satellites and the seeds of curiosity and ambition that will continue to propel them towards new heights.
