Tokyo Campus Primary Students Exhibit Great Sportsmanship in the Annual Sports Day

The much awaited Annual Sports Day at GIIS Tokyo, Nishi Kasai Campus was held in May, 2019, with great zeal and excitement. The impeccable show was planned collaboratively by Ms. Mika Itako,  school's Sports Day Coordinator and Mr. Mizuguchi, Physical Education teacher.

The program began with a dazzling dance display of Grades 1 and 2. The Guest of Honor, Ms. Abe Yuri, Police Officer of the Kasai Security Section, Mr. Komatsu Hiroshi, Assistant Inspector Metropolitan Police Department, Kasai Police Station addressed the students and emphasized on the importance of sports in a child's life. The harmonious yoga display by the students of Grade 5 amazed the spectators.

The air was filled with cheering and encouragement for the young athletes.

The students of grades 1 to 5 competed in events that included sprints, relays, crawling, skipping race and obstacle race.

The show concluded with Grades 3 and 4 students portraying a dance show accompanied by a ‘fun-tastic’ ball tossing game named ‘Tama ire’ in Japanese. The extra fun time with parents’ tug- of- war added to the enjoyment.

The overall champion trophy was awarded to Chrysanthemum House based on their incredible win.

Sports Day 2019-2020 proved to be a day to not just show one’s physical fitness, but in proving one’s regard to time, teamwork and team spirit.
