Safety First - School conducts successful traffic drill for students

Japan puts utmost emphasis on road safety and the traffic department takes great steps to ensure road safety for all. Schools throughout the country take measures to conduct workshops to educate students about the importance of being aware of all traffic rules and meticulously following them.

GIIS Tokyo conducts traffic workshops every year for its students. The aim is to sensitize the students about road and safety. This year too one such drill was organized by the school at its NishiKasai Campus on July 4, 2019.

Police officers, Ms. Abe and Mr. Suzuki from the Kasai Police Station, Tokyo conducted the workshop for the students of grades 1-5. The workshop highlighted the importance of taking a whole-of-service approach to road safety education. The police officers imparted the importance of road safety and traffic signals through a road traffic signal setup, where students got the opportunity to learn the importance of safe riding on roads and signal crossings.

The students’ comprehension of the rules was tested though a quiz session later on.

Ms. Abe and Mr. Suzuki later threw light on Japanese regulations on the use of drones by children, emphasizing that they should be used only inside the houses.

The workshop ended with an interesting video summarizing all the learnings. Kasai ward’s road safety promotion mascot, TIPO, made the learning even more enthralling for the students.
