Global Student Exchange Program(GSE), a nourishing experience for GIIS Tokyo students

Global Student Exchange program is organized once in a year to drive the GIIS students positively towards acceptance and understanding of an array of different cultural and community perspectives. The program aims to create an awareness and adoption of alternative, multi-faceted approaches to learning.

This event was organized by GIIS Dubai campus, where the teams of students from 3 campuses participated, GIIS Ahmedabad, GIIS Dubai and GIIS Tokyo. It was held on 26th November 2020 in Higashi Kasai campus,Tokyo and was conducted under the guidance of Ms.Sneha Shah.

Our team of 4 students - Karthik Ramanujam, Sara Kulkarni, Vihaa Sharma and Param Verma from grade 7 CBSE enthusiastically participated and witnessed great success sharing their knowledge with the other teams and experiencing educational and cultural exchange, gaining a deeper understanding of themselves and those around them. Their task was to give a presentation on the topic “My Country - Then and Now - 1980 - 2020 (40 years of growth)”.

A lot of efforts, research and hard work was put in by our students to create the Power Point Presentation and was genuinely appreciated. All the students received a Certificate of Participation. Even in pandemic situation we were glad to see their zeal and zest.

The event  was stress-relieving for students who had just finished writing their exams. At the same time, it was an enriching and enjoying experience.

Let’s hear it from GIIS Tokyo students

Vihaa Sharma - "The experience of the Global Student Exchange Programme is one that I would describe as an exciting and new one. I really loved it, because the students of our team had a major contribution from making  the PPT to gathering the information. This was a very good learning experience, as we had so much to explore. Afterschool calls discussing the PPT, practicing in the  class, editing and improvising, all this was a part of our journey. Our Social Science teacher, Sneha Ma'am, gave us many tips and ideas to improve our speaking skills and the aesthetic of our PPT. On the day of the presentation, we were all very excited and a little nervous, but at the same time, we were quite confident, as we had practiced a lot. Listening to the other students from different campuses and educating ourselves was a real culture exchange as we got to know about their thoughts on the topic. I especially enjoyed answering the questions we were asked, and the small chat we had at the end of the program."

Overall, it was a very well organized event .I am happy to be in the school which provides us with such great opportunities. I hope we can participate in many more such activities, as I loved working on this project.

Sara Kulkarni - "I have had a wonderful experience of GSE as I had participated last year and got an idea of this program. I feel that this helps us to exchange our knowledge with different campuses and schools. I honestly feel that this should take place every year with new topics so that we students get to research and gain more information about the outside world. Not only does our knowledge increase, but these programs help us develop our leadership and teamwork skills."

"Thank you very much and I feel that our school is giving really nice opportunities to all the students."
