GIIS Tokyo secure the Overall First Runners-Up Trophy at RWCC 2022

The Real World Challenges Convention, held on November 30th and December 1st, 2022 at the Singapore Punggol Campus, was an excellent platform for students to express their innovative ideas while enhancing their 21st-century learning skills. Nearly 800 participants from various campuses of GIIS participated, and GIIS Tokyo secured the Overall First Runners-Up Trophy. The Students  from GIIS Tokyo participated in most of the events and won various awards

The platform encourages students to network with a host of people and problems, research their chosen topics, find solutions, and present the processes while competing in various competitions. The theme for this year’s RWCC was GAIA 4 Gaia - Green and Innovative Alternatives for Earth, embracing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Every competition had a theme based on one of the UN SDGs. RWCC Sports Challenge was included in the RWCC for the first time this year under SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being.

The convention was open to students of all age groups starting from KG to Grade 12 representing schools including; GIIS Tokyo, GIIS Dubai, GIIS Ahmedabad, GIIS Balewadi, GIIS Whitefield, GIIS Bannerghatta, GIIS East Coast, GIIS Hadapsar, GIIS Kuala Lumpur, GIIS Noida, GIIS SMART Campus, GIIS Abu Dhabi, One World International School, Singapore, Regent International School, Klang, Regent International School, Kedah, Dwight School Seoul, Korea and NPS International School, Singapore. It was also open to parents, teachers, and academic leaders.

Participation in the RWCC 2022 was an experiential learning opportunity for the participants as they explored and exhibited their creativity, innovation, ingenuity, and aptitude while learning from others. It was an overwhelming experience for the teachers to see the immense confidence and talent displayed by the participants. The success of the GIIS students in the RWCC 2022 exemplifies how the school empowers its students with 21st-century skills to help them become responsible, global citizens of tomorrow.
