SURAT,  2 OCTOBER  2018 - Gandhi Jayanti, India’s 3rd national festival, was celebrated at GIIS Surat to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of our Nation-Mahatma Gandhi. The special day was celebrated with great zeal, zest and patriotism.

The Special Morning Assembly was organized by the students of the primary section to pay heartfelt tribute to our Father of Nation "Mahatma Gandhi". Children were acquainted with the anecdotes about Gandhiji’s Biography and principles of his life.

The students engrossed and enjoyed the living instances about Bapu's life. They also were shared the significance of 'Satya, Ahimsa and Satyagraha' in one’s own life. Teachings and Practices were specified along with information about role of Mahatma Gandhi in Freedom struggle of India.

Going a step forward in helping the children understand all about the freedom struggle, the students of the primary section were shown a feature film and a biography of 'Gandhiji'. The film will surely impact and influence the lives of our future citizens. This was followed by a presentation to highlight the values and the ethics he strived to inculcate in the society. The children of the primary section were given an account of how he led our nation in the fight for freedom and sacrificed his life for social equality. The teachers addressed the students regarding the Dandi march, the Swadeshi movement, and how he used to wear homespun cotton clothes, and led a simple but noble life.

To make the celebration more magnificent and memorable, Book Reading Programs, Speeches, Poster Making Competitions, and Quizzes on Gandhiji’s Life and Principles were conducted for different classes.

A tribute was paid to Gandhiji by garlanding and offering flowers at his Statue at the MGCUV Corner. The grand celebration of Gandhi Jayanti sowed the seeds of Gandhiji’s teaching in our children.
