Mathematics extended far beyond traditional textbooks as the Middle School Mathematics Department hosted an invigorating Math Treasure Hunt for Class 8 CBSE students. Held on July 8, 2026, across the vibrant GIIS KL school campus, the event successfully transformed complex problem-solving into a high-energy adventure designed to foster teamwork, logical thinking, and a genuine enthusiasm for numbers. The competition unfolded in two demanding rounds. The initial phase featured an intense Puzzle Challenge where teams put pen to paper to tackle mathematical riddles, intricate number puzzles, and brain teasers within a strict time limit. This preliminary round served as a rigorous test of analytical abilities, with only the top-performing teams earning the opportunity to advance to the ultimate physical test. The excitement reached its peak during the second round, a campus-wide Treasure Hunt. Armed with mathematical clues and strategy, qualifying teams navigated key landmarks across the school, including the library, canteen, kindergarten area, art room, and staffrooms. At every checkpoint, participants had to decode a new mathematical puzzle to unlock their next destination, filling the hallways with active collaboration, strategic communication, and energetic peer-to-peer learning.Beyond testing numerical agility, the event championed holistic learning values by directly supporting Sustainable Development Goals and key educational frameworks. The active physical navigation across campus promoted physical movement in line with SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), while the collaborative format reflected SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through cooperative teamwork. Furthermore, the event contributed to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by creating engaging, real-world learning experiences.

Writing is a foundational skill that blossoms during the early stages of childhood development. From daily classroom assignments to personal expression, young learners rely on written communication as a core pillar of the traditional 3Rs in education. To cultivate neat, legible penmanship and instill a deep sense of pride in written work, the English Department at GIIS KL recently organized an inspiring Interhouse Handwriting Competition for the enthusiastic students of Grades 1 and 2.Held on August 7, 2026, within the familiar comfort of their respective classrooms, the competition transformed an ordinary school day into a celebration of fine motor skills and focused effort. Each participant was tasked with transcribing text onto traditional four-line paper, choosing between print or cursive lettering. Under the watchful eyes of the judging panel, entries were carefully evaluated across several essential criteria, including neatness, letter formation, line alignment, spacing, spelling, and punctuation.Driven by days of diligent preparation at home, the children approached the task with remarkable focus and dedication. Their completed pages reflected a delightful harmony of disciplined execution and individual flair, demonstrating how practice and patience can transform simple strokes on paper into a work of art.Beyond the immediate thrill of friendly house competition, the event delivered meaningful educational outcomes. By reinforcing letter formation and spatial awareness, the activity contributed directly to SDG 4 (Quality Education) by supporting early literacy standards. Furthermore, it aligned seamlessly with key pillars of the 9 Gems framework, fostering Academic Excellence (Gem 1) through written accuracy, promoting Personality Development (Gem 4) as students built confidence in their abilities, and enhancing Skill Development (Gem 9) through refined motor control. The Grades 1 and 2 Handwriting Competition proved to be a resounding success, proving that even in an increasingly digital world, the timeless art of good penmanship remains a powerful tool for learning and self-expression.

GIIS Nagpur Celebrates World Photography Day with a Special Storytelling Session!

GIIS Nagpur marked World Photography Day with a special session titled "Photography — The Best Way of Storytelling," designed to help students understand how a single photograph can capture an entire story. The session brought together learning and creativity, encouraging students to look at the world through a more thoughtful, observant lens. The session was conducted by Mr. Anurag Bhattacharya, a commercial photographer, visual storyteller, food stylist, and photography mentor with over 12 years of professional experience. His work spans advertising, food and beverage, product, hospitality, architecture, and wildlife photography, giving students a rare opportunity to learn directly from an industry professional.Throughout the session, students were introduced to the core elements that make a photograph meaningful: observation, composition, emotion, perspective, and patience. Rather than simply learning how to click a picture, students were guided to think about what a photograph communicates — the story behind the frame, the emotion it captures, and the moment it preserves. Mr Anurag encouraged the students to slow down and observe their surroundings carefully before picking up a camera, helping them understand that good photography begins with good observation.Students actively participated throughout the session, asking Mr Anurag a range of questions about photography techniques and real-world applications. He addressed these with clarity and ease, breaking down professional concepts into simple, relatable ideas that students could apply in their own attempts at photography. This exchange gave the session an interactive, engaging quality, as students moved from passive listening to active questioning and learning. The session aligns with GIIS Nagpur's broader focus on holistic, skill-based learning under the GIIS 9 GEMS framework, which encourages students to explore creative and expressive skills alongside academics. By introducing students to photography as a storytelling tool rather than just a technical skill, the session helped nurture creative thinking and visual awareness among the students.Sessions like these give students exposure to real-world professionals and industries, helping them see how classroom learning connects to practical, everyday skills. For many students, the interaction with a working photographer offered a glimpse into a creative career path they may not have considered before. We will continue to organise such sessions to expose students to diverse fields and perspectives, reinforcing its commitment to well-rounded, experience-based education

The kindergarten classrooms turned into vibrant culinary spaces on July 28, 2026, as young learners participated in the hands-on "Jr. Chef: Vegetables Salad" activity. Designed to foster independence and promote wellness from an early age, the event gave every kindergarten student the opportunity to become a chef for the day while learning the fundamentals of wholesome nutrition.Throughout the session, the children actively engaged in every step of the food preparation process. They began by carefully washing fresh vegetables, learning the importance of kitchen hygiene. Working alongside their peers, the young chefs tore crisp lettuce leaves into bite-sized pieces and utilized child-safe knives to slice soft ingredients. The activity culminated in everyone mixing their prepared ingredients together in large bowls, crafting colorful salads that they proudly shared and enjoyed as a community.Beyond creating a delicious snack, the activity served as a practical application of vital life lessons. By handing the measuring, chopping, and mixing over to the students, the event effectively strengthened their fine motor skills, self-reliance, and basic culinary abilities. Working together in small groups naturally encouraged teamwork, communication, and a shared appreciation for nutritious food choices. This interactive experience directly aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by instilling lifelong healthy habits early on. Additionally, it brought key elements of the 9 Gems framework to life, specifically emphasizing Innovation and Creativity, practical Life Skills, and Collaboration.
GIIS Nagpur Celebrates Pre-Independence Day with Special Parent Engagement Activities!

GIIS Nagpur organised a series of Pre-Independence Day activities for students of Nursery to Grade 2, bringing parents into the celebrations and giving young learners a joyful, hands-on introduction to patriotism ahead of Independence Day.The celebrations began on August 12th and 13th with "Sing with Mom" for Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. Mothers joined their children to sing patriotic songs together, filling the classrooms with pride and enthusiasm. The activity gave students a chance to express their love for the nation through music, while also strengthening the bond between parent and child through a shared, joyful experience. On August 14th, the celebrations continued with "Ramp Walk with Mom" for students from Nursery to K2. Dressed in the colours of the tricolour, young students walked the ramp alongside their mothers in a display of confidence and patriotic spirit. For the youngest learners at GIIS Nagpur, the activity was a gentle but meaningful way to connect with the idea of national pride, expressed through colour, movement, and togetherness with a parent. Both activities were designed with clear learning outcomes in mind. "Sing with Mom" helped students build confidence, teamwork, and communication skills, alongside a growing sense of love for their country. "Ramp Walk with Mom" focused on building self-expression, confidence, and social skills, while reinforcing patriotic values in an age-appropriate, engaging format. What stood out through both activities was the involvement of parents, particularly mothers, as active participants rather than spectators. For young children, learning alongside a parent makes abstract ideas like patriotism and national pride easier to understand and more memorable. The activities turned a classroom concept into a lived, shared experience between parent and child. These initiatives reflect GIIS Nagpur's continued effort to make national celebrations meaningful for even its youngest students, using music, movement, and family participation to build early values of confidence, expression, and patriotism. As Independence Day approaches, such activities set the tone for a week of celebration at GIIS Nagpur, reminding students — even at a young age — of the pride and joy that comes with celebrating one's country.

GIIS Nagpur KG 2 Learners Explore Fitness Through a Special Gym Visit!

On 11th August 2026, the KG 2 learners of GIIS Nagpur visited AP Fitness Gym for a morning dedicated to movement, play, and early fitness learning. The visit gave our students a first-hand look at what a gym is, how it works, and why staying active matters — presented in a way that was simple, safe, and enjoyable for their age group. The session began with warm-up exercises and light stretching, helping children understand that preparing the body before any activity is an important first step. From there, the learners took part in basic movement exercises designed to build strength, balance, coordination, and body awareness — all delivered through games and guided activities rather than formal instruction, keeping the mood light and engaging throughout.Children also got the chance to explore different pieces of gym equipment. Trainers walked them through what each item was used for, explaining things in simple, age-appropriate language so the equipment felt familiar rather than intimidating. For many children, this was their first real introduction to a gym setting outside of playground equipment, making the experience both new and exciting.Beyond the physical activities, the visit was designed to introduce young learners to habits that matter well beyond early childhood — the value of regular exercise, making healthy choices, and understanding the discipline that comes with sticking to a routine. These are ideas that are often difficult to convey to five-and six-year-olds through explanation alone, but become far more tangible when experienced directly.Teachers accompanying the group noted that the children's curiosity and enthusiasm stood out throughout the visit, with many eager to try each activity and ask questions about the equipment around them. This kind of hands-on exposure supports GIIS Nagpur's broader approach to early years learning, where experiences outside the traditional classroom are used to reinforce lessons on health, discipline, and self-care in ways that stay with children longer than a worksheet or a lecture might. For parents, visits like this serve as a reminder that physical activity in early childhood isn't just about exercise — it's also about building confidence, social skills, and an early relationship with an active lifestyle. Encouraging similar movement-based play at home, even in small ways, can help reinforce what children experienced during the visit.GIIS Nagpur plans to continue offering learning experiences that take children beyond the classroom, giving them practical, real-world exposure to concepts that support both their physical and personal development

GIIS Nagpur Hosts iPlay Dental Clinic Activity to Instill Lifelong Oral Hygiene Habits

Global Indian International School Nagpur, organised the iPlay Dental Clinic Activity, an interactive initiative designed to introduce young learners to the fundamentals of oral hygiene in a fun and engaging way. The activity, tailored across the Nursery, K1, and K2 age groups, combined storytelling, hands-on practice, and guided learning to help children build healthy dental habits from an early age.The session opened with an informative storytelling segment for Nursery students, where educators used narrative and visual aids to introduce the concept of healthy teeth and why oral care matters. The storytelling format allowed young children to absorb the message through characters and simple, relatable scenarios rather than direct instruction.K1 students moved into the Brushing the Teeth Activity, a hands-on session focused on demonstrating the correct brushing technique. Rather than simply being told how to brush, children practiced the motion themselves, reinforcing muscle memory alongside the underlying lesson — that consistent, correct brushing is the first line of defense against cavities and gum issues. For K2 students, the session took the form of the Take Out the Cavity Activity, a more conceptual exercise that helped children understand how cavities form and why neglecting dental hygiene has consequences. By making the cause-and-effect relationship tangible, the activity aimed to shift dental care from an abstract rule to something children could reason through themselves.Across all three groups, the broader objective remained consistent: to introduce healthy lifestyle habits — brushing twice a day, eating nutritious food, and visiting the dentist regularly — while keeping the learning experience age-appropriate and enjoyable. The activity was structured to build not just awareness but confidence and curiosity, encouraging children to take ownership of their own hygiene practices rather than treating it as an externally imposed rule.Faculty members involved in the activity noted that early-years health education works best when it's experiential rather than lecture-driven, which shaped the choice of storytelling and activity-based formats over traditional instruction. The iPlay Dental Clinic Activity concluded successfully, with children leaving the session with both a clearer understanding of dental care and a positive association with the process of learning about it. GIIS Nagpur continues to integrate such experiential learning initiatives into its early-years curriculum, reinforcing the school's broader commitment to holistic development — one that extends beyond academics into health, self-care, and everyday life skills.

On July 24, 2026, the Kindergarten classroom came alive with vibrant rhythms and linguistic diversity as young learners celebrated International Language Day through the power of rhyme. The event offered students an enchanting journey through different cultures, allowing them to explore the beauty of language using verse, music, and rhythm as their guide.Throughout the celebration, the children listened attentively to simple, cheerful rhymes from around the world. With bright smiles and boundless enthusiasm, they recited lines in various languages, matching the unfamiliar sounds with expressive hand actions and natural rhythmic movements. Group rhyme recitations transformed the classroom into a supportive, collaborative space, making the linguistic exploration both deeply engaging and accessible for every young learner.Beyond the catchy cadences, the activity served a crucial developmental purpose. By practicing unfamiliar speech patterns, the students strengthened their listening, speaking, memory, and pronunciation skills. Stepping up to recite among peers built their personal confidence, while early exposure to diverse rhymes fostered a natural appreciation for global cultures. This meaningful celebration aligns seamlessly with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education, which advocates for inclusive, effective, and joyful learning environments. Furthermore, it embodies key pillars of the 9 Gems framework; specifically Gem 3 (Visual and Performing Arts), Gem 4 (Personality Development), and Gem 9 (Skill Development).
Hands-On Discovery: How GIIS KL Kindergarteners Connect with Nature

At GIIS KL Kindergarten, learning goes far beyond traditional textbooks. Early childhood development thrives on tactile, hands-on experiences that engage a child's natural curiosity while building essential developmental foundations. On 27th July 2026, the kindergarten classroom transformed into a vibrant hub of discovery as young learners participated in a delightful sensory activity: plucking green leaves using their fingers. This seemingly simple exercise was carefully designed to support crucial milestones in early physical and cognitive growth. Guided gently by their teachers, the students focused on using their thumb and index fingers to pluck individual leaves from plants and place them carefully into containers. Through these delicate movements, the children actively strengthened their fine motor skills and perfected their pincer grip, the exact muscular control required for holding pencils, using scissors, and mastering future writing tasks. Beyond physical dexterity, the exercise sharpened hand-eye coordination and nurtured deep concentration as the little ones handled each leaf with care. This activity perfectly exemplifies GIIS KL’s commitment to holistic early education, seamlessly aligning with Gem 9 (Skill Development) of the school's award-winning 9 Gems framework and supporting UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education. By integrating nature into the classroom, children not only build core physical competencies but also foster an early love and respect for the natural world. At GIIS KL, every classroom moment is an intentional stepping stone toward building confident, capable, and curious learners!

GIIS Nagpur Celebrates Peace Day with Young Learners

Peace Day at GIIS Nagpur brought together some of the school's youngest students — from Nursery to Grade 2 — for a morning that turned a big idea into something every child could understand and take part in.The celebration opened with a quiet moment of reflection, giving students a chance to pause and think about what peace really means. This was followed by the story of Sadako Sasaki, a young girl from Japan who folded paper cranes as a symbol of hope during a difficult time in her life. Her story is often shared with children because it shows that even a small, simple act can carry a powerful message: peace is something anyone can work toward, no matter how young they are. From there, the day moved into hands-on activities designed around that same idea. Students made handprint doves and finger-painted peace symbols, turning their own hands into a message of kindness. They also worked on peace puzzles, piecing them together the way peace itself is built — one part at a time, with everyone contributing. One of the most memorable moments came when the students formed a human peace symbol, standing together to create the shape as a group rather than individually.Music and movement played a big role too. The K2 students performed a peace dance, and Grade 2 students sang a peace song, both reminding everyone watching that peace isn't just something to talk about — it can be expressed through art, movement, and voice as well.Throughout the celebration, one message stayed consistent: peace doesn't start with governments or big decisions far away. It starts with everyday choices — being kind to a classmate, listening to a friend, or including someone who's sitting alone. That's the message GIIS Nagpur hoped every student would carry with them after the celebration ended. For young learners, days like this aren't just about the activities. They're an early lesson in empathy, cooperation, and the idea that even small actions matter. And judging by the smiles, songs, and shared symbols formed that day, the message landed exactly where it was meant to.

Laughter and learning spilled across the GIIS KL field on July 24, 2026, as our kindergartners gathered for a vibrant session of water play focusing on the activity of transferring water. The open field transformed into an energetic arena of discovery, where young learners eagerly stepped up to take on hands-on challenges designed to turn simple play into meaningful skill development. The highlight of the event was a water relay game that kept every child actively engaged. Working in small groups, the students carefully saturated sponges with water, squeezed every drop into their containers, and synchronized their efforts to pass a pail of water to the teammate lined up behind them. Navigating the field with steady hands and careful footsteps, the children practiced spatial awareness, physical balance, and seamless teamwork, cheering one another on with every successful transfer.Beyond the refreshing excitement, the activity served a core developmental purpose. Pinching, dipping, and squeezing the sponges provided an excellent workout for tiny hands, strengthening fine motor skills and refining hand-eye coordination. Managing the liquid without spilling required sustained focus and physical control, nurturing self-regulation, concentration, and personal independence through self-directed action. This interactive session directly reflects GIIS's commitment to holistic growth. By championing active, play-based exploration, the activity aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) through the power of experiential learning. Furthermore, it brings the 9 Gems framework to life by integrating the pillars of Innovation & Creativity and Sports, proving that essential life skills, physical wellness, and joyful collaboration can all be discovered in a single bucket of water.
